| One thing that always irratated me was when TV shows or movies try to show how life is on the "streets". I have yet to see anyone anywhere do this without coming across really corny. Dave Chapelle probably did it best on his show, but he was making fun of that stuff. I'm talking about movies or shows that try to give an authentic representation of how conversations go down in urban settings.
Now, I'm not an expert on living in the ghetto or the "streets", the hard-knock life, etc. But I know some corny dialogue when I hear it. The latest example comes from a show called "The Wire" on HBO. I'm trying to get into this so called GRITTY cop drama about the drug wars on the streets of Baltimore. But, I've got to believe even the black actors hired to play the GRITTY drug dealers from the ghetto are laughing to themselves when they say their lines. A typical conversation will try to replicate street lingo by going something like this:
Thug #1: "Yo Dog, that's wack!"
Thug #2:"True, represent fool."
Thug #1:"Mos Def. No Doubt. Word G"
I have to think that although someone somewhere probably used a few of these words in some parts of their speech, the only ones doing so now are wiggers and actors playing thugs on TV. | | |
| Why the heck are Yellow Trucks orange? This baffles me! | | |
| Xanga needs love.
If I had to pick my favorite Britney Spears song I'd choose "Everytime". I like that one.
